Rumors have it that iPhone may make it to Shelves this February.MacRumors reports that they have received screenshots from a source, showing the white iPhone in Best Buy’s database. The model name and SKU are identical to the ones Best Buy was taking about in summer last year before they were cancelled by Apple.

Engadget on the other hand, also previously reported the white iPhone 4 in Vodafone’s inventory system. The source reports the white iPhone 4 model will be coming "soon”. It is unknown, if this is actual information, or if these stores are just preparing for the "spring" release, Apple claimed last year. Also, the release day is reportedly February 27th, which is a Sunday, which seems very unlikely, as Apple usually picks Thursdays or Fridays as their launch days, so they could attract more customers over the weekend.

How to Update to iOS 4.3 Beta without Apple Developer Account

January 19, 2011 Leave a comment

We have just read about this method floating around the web which can apparently allow you to restore your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch on iOS 4.3 beta without having to have UDID of your iOS device registered on a developer account.

iOS 4.3 UnlockInstructions are as follows:-

Quick Guide on how to "hacktivate" iOS 4.3 without a developer account.

1. Method
1) Install iOS 4.3
2) "Jailbreak" with redsn0w 0.9.6rc8, you should see a white block in de upper left corner from your iPhone, reboot it
3) get iFunBox
4) navigate to "Raw File System" -> /System/Library/CoreServices
5) open SystemVersion.plist and remove the following lines:
<key>ReleaseType</key>
<string>Beta</string>
6) Reboot the iPhone
7) Activate your iPhone with iTunes

2. Method (thx to joshingknight)
1) Restore to 4.2.1
2) Shift-Update and point the 4.3 IPSW. here’s important that you Shift-Update, not Shift-Restore!
If you want File System Access just jailbreak it like you were on 4.2.1 and reboot your iDevice when it’s stuck on a black screen, then you have FS Access with tools like iFunBox, but Cydia won’t work
Congrats your iPhone is activated now =)

Greetings from Switzerland..

NOTE: These methods have not been tested.

The two methods posted above are for information purposes only.

We highly recommend you to get enrolled in the iPhone Developer Standard or Enterprise Program to have complete access to all current and future iOS Beta releases.

(Thanks, Adrian Pulido)

Apple’s CEO “Steve Jobs” is going on a "medical leave”. In his absence, Apple COO Tim Cook will take over company’s day-to-day operations. Although Steve Jobs will remain the CEO of the company.

Here is the full email which Jobs sent to all Apple employees this morning:

Team,

At my request, the board of directors has granted me a medical leave of absence so I can focus on my health. I will continue as CEO and be involved in major strategic decisions for the company.

I have asked Tim Cook to be responsible for all of Apple’s day to day operations. I have great confidence that Tim and the rest of the executive management team will do a terrific job executing the exciting plans we have in place for 2011.

I love Apple so much and hope to be back as soon as I can. In the meantime, my family and I would deeply appreciate respect for our privacy.

Apple Reaches Federal Government to Stop iPhone Jailbreaking

iphone_pirate_2

Apple has approached the federal government to help stop hackers from jailbreaking the iPhone, reports NBC.

A spokesperson from Apple told the US Copyright Office that "Current jailbreak technologies now in widespread use utilize unauthorized modifications to the copyrighted bootloader and operating system, resulting in the infringement of the copyrights in those programs".

This action of Apple has come after Sony recently filed a lawsuit against the well known iPhone hacker Geohot for jailbreaking PlayStation 3 for life.

It is also to be noted here that , the United States government ruled in the favor of iPhone jailbreaks and unlocks as legal, as long as they were not used for piracy purposes. Full details of this new DMCA legislation can be read here.

Sony brings Nintendo 3DS’s Competitor, will be as powerful as PS3?

January 15, 2011 Leave a comment

PSP2

It appears that Sony is not going to let the Nintendo 3DS steal the market. Sony is expected to release the PSP2 within Q4 this year, possibly as early as October, and the first announcement is expected to be made January 27th,according to sources.

It seems as this is going to be a high-end portable console. Sony has allegedly been telling licensees the device “is as powerful as the PlayStation 3”. The PSP successor will include a HD screen with twin-sick controls, and it may even incorporate phone functions, however this won’t be the primary use of the device. As this is what the PlayStation Phone or the Xperia Play will do.

Sony is expected to release more information at GDC and E3, after the January 27th event. MCV reports there will be plenty downloadable content, smaller games and apps will be available via PSN. MCV also reports the PlayStation phone will be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, and it will only be capable of running smaller games.
